WHAT IS THIS STORY ABOUT?
When Djata is exiled from his homeland, he goes on a journey to gather the forces he will need to defeat Sumanguru, the Sorcerer King who has robbed him of his inheritance. On the way, he must come to terms with the reality that there is a much greater adversary he must defeat to become worthy of his goal - his most terrifying ‘Opp’, himself. Behind the graphic novel series…
A storyteller, student of West African history, martial artist, former stunt performer, super auntie, rock star sister, friend, apple of her parents’ eyes and Prime Minister of enjoyment, Eposi created this series inspired by West & Central African folklore and historical events. She is driving the project forward using illustrative, culturally specific creative briefs and project management experience.
Eposi uses these life experiences and extensive travels across the continent of Africa to fuel her cinematic imagination.

Alex is a concept art generalist with experience on several indie video games and animated productions like the Emmy Nominated TV Series “ARCHER” on FX and Netflix.
Along with a background in comics, Alex has lived and traveled to several countries around the world, particularly on the continent of Africa. This broad experience lends a sense of authenticity, relatability and dynamism to the graphic series SONGS OF THE SAHARA.
